🏠 JULY 2024 UACE STUDIO HOMEBASE
THANK YOU!
On behalf of the Stanford Life Design Lab and Weber State, thank you for joining us in person for our July UACE Life Design Studio. This website will continue to be a repository of resources from our time together.
Feel free to reach out at any time to Kathy at kathyhdavies@stanford.edu if you have any additional resources you would like to add onto this page.
Until next time, Studio crew!
PREPARING FOR STUDIO
STUDIO PRE-WORK (LINKED HERE)
During our training, we will be diving into our views on work and life. These reflections that you will engage with will form part of the foundational structure of the life design curriculum.
We will be sharing the workview and the worldview reflections in small group breakouts during the second day of our training. You will not need to share the social identity reflection. Please consider this pre-work as important in supporting your Studio experience. It should take around 2 hours of your time to complete all 3 reflection activities.
WHAT DO I BRING?
When you arrive, we will have all the materials you need to participate. We invite you to consider your needs for a workshop of this nature and bring anything that would support your learning.
There are no activities that require you bringing a computer — some teams find it helpful to collaborate digitally on their prototypes. Whatever you choose, we’ll make it work.
The weather in Layton in June is going to be hot! There is no dress code other than wearing something that makes you feel comfortable. A light jacket might be helpful in the evenings when it can get a bit colder. We’ll be doing some walking around campus so bringing shoes you feel comfortable to move around in would be ideal!
WHAT TO EXPECT
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ll be in small group conversations and working in radical collaboration with one another throughout our time in Studio. You can expect moving around the space; identifying colors; reading, listening, and seeing slides; and building things with various materials!
If you are coming with folks from your institution, you will be paired with them in our prototyping groups. If you are coming as a solo participant, we will match you with others curious about similar student needs.
Throughout the training we will have light breakfasts and lunches provided. Breakfast will be available 8 - 8:30 AM. Ask us for dinner recommendations after each day :)
If you have any needs that have emerged, please email Mitchell Keahey at mitchellkeahey@weber.edu. We want to ensure that this experience works for you.
